Australian's Only Fetish Fashion Photographer.
Andru started designing in his early teens at the same time he picked up his first guitar, having always
been obsessed with image and style he form and played in several glam ans industrial bands including
Pink Champagne and Power Mad Science before he returning to study 1997, where he complete the
Fashion Design Diploma .
Founding his signature label in 1998, he became a master of structure and cutting edge elegance, He endeavours to
enhance the natural form of a woman’s body and not hide it. he has a minimal approach to designing, along with
versatility he believes that clothes need to be practical and this has lead to some of the most original and interesting
designs seen today. The majority of clothing used in his photography is exclusively designed for individual models and
shoots.
After years of unsuccessfully promoting his future forward fashion he became delusioned with the average Australian
who preferred jean over high fashion, he decided to concentrate on photography the only way he could see his designs
reach there full and rightful potential.
His photography style is experimental and organic. choosing to work with minimal equipment but always on an awry of
mediums including digital film video and camera phone he uses a very traditional and non tradition techniques to
capture his subjects. always preferring to work with muses not models and on concepts and ideas rather than
concentrating on technical perfection.
Lighting plays an important role in his work. His control over light and darkness is unlike many other photographers.
Often viewed as being extremely controversial, he shoots only for himself, not for money or fame nor for the girls vanity.
He pushes his subjects hard, sometimes in harsh and gruelling conditions all just to capture the experience.
Andru's first book Fetish? the Subversion of fabric and flesh was released on Aug 20 2007 an erotic digital print
photobook pushing Fetish and Fashion to new limits.He has also held serval multimedia fashion shows long with being
featured in galleries and the power house museum in Sydney.Many of his photographs and clothing have appeared in
magazines like Skin Two, Cream, Fiend, several newspapers and Australian TV shows and Music videos.
His attitude goes far beyond his approach to photography and fashion design but extends to his every day life. Never
corrupted by money or influenced by trends, critics or potential buyers.The process is always more important than the
product.He pursues his vision relentlessly for no other reason than to create. Above all his hatred for the mediocre is
what drives him to continue when no one is interested or understands what he does.
Many people have tried to describe his work, but the one statement that comes up again and again is that 'He walks the
fine line between Art and Porn'. Some would argue he has a perfect balance but he would tell you he sees no line.
